culture of the indigenous peoples of North America.
Listen to the elders of Turtle Island speak of the
origins of the songs of their people. Each song
carries the story of the culture within it. The
stories are about courage, great exploits and
sometimes just everyday experiences. Songs and
spirituality are intertwined and it is through song
that communication with God and spirit takes place.
The difference between "no word" and contemporary
songs is discussed as well as the impact that
advancing technology has on the oral history of native
peoples.
