The Grass Dance evolved from warrior society dances and is religious in nature. One of the oldest dances, it portrays a warrior in search of a proper ceremonial place. The dancer mimics the movements of the tall grass of the prairies swaying in the wind. The best dancers tell stories through their body movements, capturing the history of their people and the relationship the dancer feels with the earth and their ancestors.
