The late Billy Baker raised his boys around the drum. As one of the original members of the Mandaree Singers, his sons grew up with teachings from some of the most well-respected singers of the time.
As these boys grew into young men, they came into their own. They joined other friends and relatives from the powwow trail, and started their own drum group called the Eagle Whistle Singers. Over the years, they found themselves going between singing with their dad and also their new-found group. But with the passing of their father in 1993, the boys have since been called back to their fathers drum, Mandaree.
Today, along with some of their uncles, they carry on with their own sons and many of their nephews. The sound of Mandaree continues to remain the same over the decades. Generations of singers coming from the same family. It allows us to revisit a time some of younger sons and nephews never saw and to hear a sound no one will ever forget. It gives us all a chance to "Revisit" Mandaree.
