Pray opens with a beautiful song, "Sunrise Prayer" setting the tone for a dynamic album of ancient prayers voiced by several talented singers including Diné, Linda Dee and flute melodies from best-selling artist Douglas Spotted Eagle. An array of exotic instruments and fully realized soundscapes create a weave of modern and traditional music that retains an authenticity of feeling throughout the recording. Other vocalists include members of Hopi, Paiute and Lakota tribes. An excellent contemporary album with something for everyone. "First Contact" features two different kinds of drumming that create an eerie feeling next to each other, the sound of a native drum next to military snare drums. Spotted Eagle has created a soundtrack of the past with modern technology giving us a rare treat.
